EBO Welcome Letter

Dear Sir or Madam,

Welcome to the City of Tampa's Equal Business Opportunity (EBO) Program!

The Equal Business Opportunity (EBO) Program was created to help Women/Minority Business Enterprises (W/MBEs) and Small Local Business Enterprises (SLBEs), Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB), and LGBT Owned Businesses flourish. Businesses can find resources, access business opportunities, and enroll in training with the EBO Division. Certification services are provided at no cost to W/MBEs and SLBEs. Please peruse our “Welcome Letter” below and the entire EBO website for a host of helpful information. The EBO Division stands ready to provide City of Tampa Certified Firms with procurement and contractual opportunities to help them grow and thrive.

Steps to Get Certified

  1. Visit the EBO Program Website: Start by visiting our EBO Program page. Here you will find comprehensive information about the certification process and resources available to you.
  2. Certification Requirements: Ensure that your business meets the eligibility criteria for certification. Detailed requirements can be found under the "Certification Requirements" section.
  3. Start Certification Application: To start your certification select the link appropriate to your business. You will need to provide detailed information about your business, including ownership, structure, and financial documents. Gather and submit all required documentation as outlined in the application process. This includes proof of ownership, financial records, and any other relevant information. Once your application and documents are submitted, our team will review your submission. We will reach out if any additional information is needed.
  4. Schedule a One-on-One Appointment: If you need assistance or have questions, schedule an appointment with one of our EBO specialists. You can do this directly through the EBO Program page.
  5. Approval and Notification: Upon approval, you will receive an official notification along with your certification details. Your business will be added to our certified directory, making it easier for other businesses and government entities to find and engage with you.
  6. Attend Orientation: We require newly certified businesses to attend our monthly orientation class to understand the full benefits of the program and how to maximize your certification.

Benefits of Certification

  • Access to Business Opportunities: Certified businesses are eligible for contracts and projects specifically set aside for W/MBE and SLBE firms.
  • Networking and Training: Gain access to networking events, training sessions, and business development resources.
  • Visibility: Increase your business’ visibility through our online directories and promotional efforts.
