Please note: Effective July 1, 2021, Florida Statutes, as amended by Senate Bill 60, require a name and address to be provided in order to report potential violations of codes and ordinances for investigation.

Reporting a Potential Tree Removal Violation

Protected tree removal, in general. No person shall cut down, remove, relocate, damage, destroy, or in any manner abuse any protected tree in the city, until such work is authorized by a permit issued by the PDD. Removal of a protected tree without a permit is an irreparable or irreversible violation. An application for protected tree removal shall be granted when it is determined that criteria in Table 284.2.4 of the Tampa Municipal Code have been met.


What type of tree removal violations you can report?
  • Tree removed without an appropriate permit
  • The tree has not been declared “dangerous” by Natural Resources or a Certified Arborist
  • Removal of small trees and understory vegetation by mechanical equipment without a permit
