Memorial Park Cemetery Fencing

Memorial Park Cemetery Fencing

Memorial Park Cemetery is a historical landmark in East Tampa, FL. The cemetery opened in 1919, with World War I veterans being buried there. The cemetery was purchased by the City of Tampa May 2023. On June 20, 2024, the City Council approved funding for improvements to the fence. The goal is to ensure the cemetery is clean and secure.

CRA Investment: $500,000

Project Status: Pending notification from Parks and Recreation when installation will start.

East Palifox Street & East Osborne Avenue Housing Development

East Palifox Street & East Osborne Avenue Housing Development

There is currently a high need for affordable housing. Therefore, Tampa CRA purchased several properties located southeast at the intersection of East Osborne Avenue and North 19th Street that will be utilized for affordable housing. The CRA will obtain input from the community regarding future residential development on the site. The overall goal is to develop attainable housing that enhances the neighborhood.

Project Status: Staff is working with consultant gathering updated data.

Housing Development at 1102 E Curtis

Housing Development at 1102 E Curtis

The CRA purchased the property September 2023, which was previously the Destination Church. The property will undergo environmental cleanup and demolition. City Planning will present 3 proposed plans. CRA is working on Design-Bid Build. The goal is to build housing for lower-income individuals and families.

CRA Investment:$525,000

Project Status: Pending Funding FY25- Demolition services are pending City Council approval.

Property at East Lake Ave & North 22nd Street AKA Gator Building

The building was built in 1951. The CRA is assisting with redeveloping the property into a Business Incubator Hub, Food Hall, and Event Plaza. The goal is to meet the needs of the East Tampa Community Redevelopment Area (ETCRA) residents, neighborhood, and community..

CRA Investment: $1,060,000

Project Status: Staff is working with working with Economic Opportunity and City Planning on vision options. CRA staff is working on vision and listening presentations.

Stormwater Pond

Stormwater Pond

The aim is to develop cooling streetscape elements to reduce exposure to extreme heat for people who walk, bike, and use transit. The concept for N. 22nd Street focuses on creating more shade and, where possible, replacing the sidewalk that runs close to the roadway with meandering paths that route pedestrians closer to shade and the stormwater pond.

CRA Investment: $1,500,000

Project Status: Pending CAC approval for FY25

Parks ADA Program

Parks ADA Program

The CRA is providing funds to improve park accessibility to be compliant with ADA guidelines while also improving inclusive play. The CRA board approved funding for a 5-year project (FY 23-FY27). Improvements will be made to the following parks: Alfred Barnes Jr Park, Borrell Park, Clarence Fort Freedom Trail, Cuscaden Park, Cyrus Greene Park, Giddens Park Grant Park. Project Status: This is an ongoing project through FY27.
