Tampa, Florida—Last weekend, the Florida United Numismatists (FUN) Show attracted thousands of coin enthusiasts and traders to the Tampa Convention Center with a unique collection of rare and high valued coins. The convention, which took place January 4-7, raised upwards of a million dollars over the course of the weekend.

Over 5,000 traders attended the 2018 FUN Show, selling unique and rare coins at booths divided into categories like ancient and foreign artifacts, historic coins, and educational exhibits. The majority of proceeds from the event, however, came from the live auctions that took place in the 1st floor breakout rooms.

During these auctions, bidders competed in person, online, and over the phone for some of the show’s rarest treasures. These auctions continued into the early hours of the morning, as bidders from across the globe, and across time zones, competed for the most popular lots. During these events, an average starting bid could easily fall over $1000, while some of the most valuable items sold for tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Raising over a million dollars over the course of the weekend, the 2018 FUN Show was a major success, bringing together traders and numismatists of all ages.
