Divisions

The City of Tampa Department of Development and Growth Management's overall department function is to ensure safe and affordable housing and commercial structures that are compatible and compliant with applicable codes and ordinances.

The department is comprised of the following divisions:

Water Street Construction

Construction Services

The Construction Services Division provides all building permit and inspection services for property development in the City.
Historic Preservation

Architectural Review & Historic Preservation

Historic Preservation is responsible for maintaining the integrity of local historic districts, local historic landmarks, and preserving contributing structures by ensuring that any changes to these structures are implemented in a manner that is architecturally appropriate.

Housing & Community Development

The Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) plays a lead role in the development of housing and citizen support programs to serve the city's low and moderate-income households, homeless, and disabled populations.

Development Coordination

The Development Coordination Division manages a multitude of land development efforts including land use changes, alcoholic beverage permitting and enforcement, and the Variance Review Board. The division administers the City's zoning code, design districts, and right of way and mapping efforts.

The Real Estate Division acts as a central service organization, providing the purchase, sale, leasing, and property management services of real estate for other City departments.
