Storm Debris Clearing Plan Map ¶
Please note that the City of Tampa Solid Waste department does three sweeps of an area to pick up debris. The above Storm Debris Clearing Plan Map will show an area as completed after the 1st pass has been completed.
Using this map
Debris removal involves three passes through an area.
- To be Scheduled Soon (Light Gray) - Indicates that the area will be scheduled soon for removal.
- Next (Pink) - Indicates the areas where crews will begin to collect storm debris the next day.
- In-Progress (Yellow) - Indicates that crews are actively working in the highlighted area for the current day. Please note that crews will return to collect debris that has been set out after the initial collection.
Completed (Green) - Indicates that full debris collection has taken place in the highlighted area.
The map is updated daily at 8:00 pm.

Be prepared to provide the following:
- Completed IRS W-9 Form https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf
- Proof of Insurance: Ensure you have all necessary insurance documentation readily available.
- Equipment List: Provide a detailed list of the equipment your company has available for debris removal.
Payment is by cubic yard. The contractors will be able to provide rates.
You will need to be able to load mechanically (grapple or claw) and haul the debris in a container that is capable of mechanically dumping (dumpsters not acceptable).

Storm related debris placed at the curb will be collected by City crews and debris removal contractors deployed in the north and south regions of the City respectively. Generally, collection is carried out in order of neighborhoods most severely impacted. Post storm cleanup efforts will continue until the City is restored. To monitor progress, refer to the Storm debris map located on the Solid Waste homepage Storm Debris Cleanup-tampa.maps.arcgis.com. Maps are updated daily.
Collection efforts are based on the severity of the storm and associated damage. The end date for the clean-up will be announced two weeks prior to the last day of collection via press release and posted on the Solid Waste Department’s Website https://www.tampa.gov/solid-waste.

No. All storm related debris can be disposed of free of charge by presenting a City of Tampa Utility Bill and a government issued ID. The name on the ID must match the name on the account, and waste must originate at the address stated on the bill.
The McKay Bay Transfer Station is the main drop-off site. However, as the need arises, citizen drop-off sites are established throughout the City in various locations to accept vegetative storm debris only. Household items must be dropped off at the McKay Bay Transfer Station. Check the Solid Waste webpage for updates or call the Solid Waste call center at (813) 274-8811, press #3, for drop-off locations.
No. Trees and large limbs must be cut into 4ft lengths or smaller. Tree stumps over 100lbs are not accepted. For assistance, please contact the Forestry Department.

No, City personnel are not permitted to enter a resident’s home. Items must be placed at the curb in separate piles. One for vegetative storm debris and another for damaged household items.
Per ordinance crews are permitted to begin collection at 6 a.m. City crews work 12-hour shifts Monday to Saturday. Contractors are scheduled to work 12-hour shifts Monday to Sunday.
No. In order for the City of Tampa to qualify for Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA) all storm debris must be placed at the curb and accounted for separately from regular garbage, yard waste, and recycling or SWEEP items.
Yes. Requests can be made by calling the Solid Waste Department call Center at (813) 274-8811, press #3. Customers may also submit a request online using the Tampa Connect Customer Service Center (CSC). https://apps.tampagov.net/appl_customer_service_center/
No. Both services are suspended until further notice. SWEEP and Yard Waste Teams are working with debris management contractors to collect storm debris from neighborhoods and restore the City to pre-storm conditions. As an alternative, residents are encouraged to dispose of SWEEP items for free at our McKay Bay Transfer Station. Crews work diligently to collect all storm related items prior to the next weather event. In preparation for pending storms please be reminded to store all containers and large items in a secure location.

Storm Debris Disposal Options
Curbside Placement
Crews will collect damaged household items, construction debris, and vegetative-storm debris from the curb. Collecting seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or Sunup to Sundown.
Mixed Debris - Self Disposal
Self disposal at McKay Bay Disposal Complex at 112 34th Street. Open M-F from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- City of Tampa residents can dispose of all storm related debris for free of charge by presenting a government issued ID .
The name on the ID must match the name on the account, and waste must originate at the address stated on the account.
- Private Haulers will be assessed a fee.
Vegetative Debris – Self Disposal
Free citizen drop-off sites are established at the following locations to accept vegetative storm debris only.
