CERT Training:
In the event of a major disaster, emergency services personnel can initially become overwhelmed leaving citizens on their own. The Tampa Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) provides community training to enable citizens to help themselves and their neighbors by applying the basic response and organizational skills during an emergency. Training may include, damage assessments, CPR, AED, First Aid, and other community assistance training. CERT members may also serve as first responders in the community until professional emergency services are able to arrive. Additionally, FEMA offers online training and exercise opportunities on the National CERT website.
American Red Cross-Training
The American Red Cross - Central Florida Region also provides opportunities to get trained and volunteer to support the Tampa community. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Central Florida Region serves families throughout our community thanks to a team of 3,000adult and youth volunteers. Together, these dedicated volunteers donate over 300,000 hours of community service a year. These hours translate into a highly trained and highly skilled team; a fun and supportive work environment; and the delivery of critical mission services to families in desperate need every day.
