Today, the City of Tampa will pay tribute to the remarkable life and enduring legacy of the late Michael Phillips, a revered local disability and healthcare advocate, with an honorary street renaming ceremony.

Tampa City Council members and community representatives will join together with Michael's mother to honor his profound contributions.

Michael Phillips, a beloved figure known for his dedication to advocating for individuals with disabilities and improving healthcare accessibility, passed away in March of 2020. His impactful work and unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of others continue to resonate within the Tampa community.

The ceremony is set to take place at 3:00 p.m. outside of his cherished Plant High School, at the corner of S. Himes and W. San Jose St.
