INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY WITH MAYOR JANE CASTOR, KING & QUEEN OF YE MYSTIC KREWE OF GASPARILLA
Prior to the Start of Children's Gasparilla Parade
The Ashley Children's Gasparilla Parade presented by Chick-fil-A Tampa Bay, widely considered the largest children's event in the country, is set to take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. - 6:15 P.M. Mayor Jane Castor, Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla (YMKG) King CIX William Player Curtis and Queen CIX Hayley Duvall Divers will be available for interviews to discuss the event and the City's plans to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
The parade begins at Bay to Bay and Bayshore Boulevard and proceeds north along Bayshore Boulevard before ending at Edison Avenue. The parade features pirates, floats, marching bands, and more. Prior to the main event, parade goers can enjoy the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Rodeo with the Tampa Police Department, the Gasparilla Preschooler’s Stroll presented by Primrose Schools, and the Gasparilla Air Invasion. The airshow fun will continue during twilight hours as the Gasparilla Nighttime Air Invasion kicks off, including a ‘Piratechnic” fireworks display. A full schedule of events can be viewed here.
This annual event recreates the imaginary battle between the pirates of YMKG and the City of Tampa, which first began in 1904. Alas, the pirates remain undefeated to this day. The Gasparilla Children’s Parade sets the stage for the energetic Gasparilla Invasion and Seminole Hard Rock Gasparilla Pirate Fest scheduled for the following Saturday, January 27 .
The Ashley Children’s Gasparilla presented by Chick-fil-A Tampa Bay and Seminole Hard Rock Gasparilla Pirate Fest are marketed, managed, and produced annually by EventFest, Inc.
