Tampa Fire Rescue (TFR) is proud to unveil the new Drager Phase 5 Modified Multi Story System, an advanced training tower that will replace the previous burn simulator constructed in 2009 and demolished this summer.

As the City of Tampa’s landscape continues to transform with more high rises and densely populated spaces, it is critical that firefighters are trained to respond to fires quickly and safely in such structures.

The Drager Phase 5 features more than a dozen modified shipping containers, including burn chambers, cold chambers, a tower, an elevator shaft for high-rise fire response training, and confined space training areas.

On Monday, September 18, at the Tampa Fire and Police Training Complex, 116 S. 34th St, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, Fire Chief Barbara Tripp, additional members of TFR and Tampa City Council, will join together to unveil the new training structure with a fire hose uncoupling to symbolize a ribbon cutting, followed by members of TFR repelling from the new tour in celebration and a media tour inside the new tower.
