After another successful cycle, the City of Tampa's e-Bike Voucher Program is pedaling back around to give more residents an opportunity to explore another transportation option.
In the spring, a total of 112 vouchers were redeemed. The next application window for the summer/fall round begins at 8:00 A.M. on Friday, August 16, 2024, and runs through 5:00 P.M. on Friday, August 30, 2024. The e-Bike Voucher Program is open to all City residents, ages 18 and up. Applicants who applied in the spring, but were not selected, will be automatically rolled into this application cycle. This round, 108 vouchers will be up for grabs.
Like the first round, there are $1,000 standard vouchers and $2000 and $3000 vouchers for low and very low incomes. The lucky recipients will be chosen randomly through a lottery-style drawing and can then redeem their voucher at one of the participating bike shops. Both Class 1 and Class 2 (throttle assisted) e-Bikes will be eligible for vouchers. This is not a free bike giveaway.
More e-Bike Rodeo events are expected in the near future.
Thanks to an increase in funding this year to $570,000, the Mobility Department is thrilled to be able to offer this second application window, which will bring our awarded vouchers to more than 200 in 2024. Previous e-Bike Voucher recipients have reported nearly doubling the amount they are riding and more than 70% say they are using their car less.
