Residents Asked to Report Flooding and Damage to Properties

As Tropical Storm Debby makes its way up the West Florida coastline, residents are urged to remain indoors and avoid the roadways.

Given the heavy rainfall the Tampa Bay region is expected to receive over the next 24 hours, post-storm flooding is possible, particularly in low-lying areas or near bodies of water. Drivers heading out Monday morning should be cautious and never drive through flood water. As with any emergency situation, 911 should be the first call. For all other non-life threatening emergencies, individuals are asked to reach out to TPD’s non-emergency line (813) 231-6130. To report any flooding, individuals should call the Stormwater Customer Service Line (813) 274-3101.

Additionally, Tampa residents or business owners whose properties experience non-life threatening damages caused by the storm are encouraged to fill out the Resident Damage Self Reporting Form. After every storm, the City of Tampa’s Public Works and Code Enforcement teams report damages to Hillsborough County and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). By filling out this form, residents can help city crews identify damages more efficiently and report back to county, state, and federal authorities. This form does not replace a homeowner’s private property insurance claims.

Residents with storm-related questions can call the City of Tampa’s Call Center at 833-TPA-INFO. For text alerts, individuals can sign up by texting TAMPAREADY or TAMPALISTA (Spanish) at 888-777. Follow @AlertTampa and @CityofTampa for updates.
