This information is 3 months 2 weeks old and may no longer be accurate.

The City of Tampa is proud to announce the return of "Suds and Solutions," a community initiative designed to alleviate financial stress by providing free laundry assistance to local families while connecting them with city services.

The inaugural event, held on July 10, was a resounding success, with over 277 loads of laundry (2,770 lbs.) washed for free. This initiative not only lightened the financial load for many but also connected residents with City of Tampa personnel who provided information about resources offered through the city. As families prepare for the back-to-school season, "Suds and Solutions" is returning to continue its mission of support and community engagement.

Back-to-school season often brings significant financial strain, with families facing the costs of school supplies, clothing, and other necessities. By offering free laundry services, the City of Tampa hopes to provide immediate relief while also connecting residents with vital city services that can enhance their lives.

The upcoming "Suds and Solutions" event will take place on August 9, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at Big Wash Laundromat, located at 908 East Waters Avenue in Tampa. Families will have access to free washers, dryers, detergent, and other laundry supplies. During the event, representatives from the City of Tampa Code Enforcement, Human Rights, Tampa Police Department, Tampa Fire Rescue, and Housing Department will be on hand to engage with residents and share information about available services and programs.

“Families leave this event with so much more than a basket full of clean clothes. It’s about connecting our Tampa residents with resources that can improve their lives in meaningful ways,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “We were thrilled to see so many people benefit from our first 'Suds and Solutions' event, and we're looking forward to doing it again to help ease the financial burden for families as they prepare for the new school year.”

"Suds and Solutions" is hosted by the City of Tampa Community Engagement & Partnerships team in collaboration with Current Initiatives, the local non-profit organization behind The Laundry Project.
