Tampa Fire Rescue is excited to participate in Fire Prevention Week 2024, running from October 6-12. This year's theme, "Smoke Alarms: Make them work for you," emphasizes the importance of having working smoke alarms in every home.
During the week, Tampa Fire Rescue, in partnership with the American Red Cross of Central Florida, will offer free smoke alarm installations across Tampa neighborhoods. Residents can sign up at Tampa.gov/fire by clicking on the Fire Prevention Week link.
Installation Schedule:
- Monday, October 7: North Tampa, 8am-2pm
- Tuesday, October 8: East Tampa, 8am-2pm
- Wednesday, October 9: South Tampa, 8am-2pm
- Thursday, October 10: West Tampa, 8am-2pm
Residents interested in having smoke alarms installed must register before October 1, 2024, at tampa.gov/fire.
"We are committed to promoting fire safety year-round, and Fire Prevention Week provides a focused opportunity to engage with our community," said Fire Chief Barbara Tripp. "By working together, we can make our community safer for everyone in Tampa."
"As a community, our greatest responsibility is to protect one another. Making sure all of our Tampa residents have properly functioning smoke alarms is a crucial reminder of the simple steps we can take to keep our homes and loved ones safe,” added Mayor Jane Castor.
Tampa Fire Rescue will also host community events and school programs to teach fire safety throughout the week.
