In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, the City of Tampa understands that many residents have questions as they recover and begin to rebuild – from permits to property tax assessment implications, and potential grant programs. On Friday, November 1 at 11 a.m. the city will host a live, one-hour virtual townhall, in which a panel will be on hand to answer questions.
The panel will include Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez, City of Tampa Chief Building Official JC Hudgison, and Whit Remer, City of Tampa's Sustainability and Resilience Officer.
"We recognize many people in Tampa are burdened with significant rebuilding decisions right now," said Whit Remer. "We are committed to providing information and options to guide residents through this difficult time."
Interested participants are encouraged to register for the Virtual Townhall at tampa.gov/register, where they can also submit their question(s) ahead of time.
The townhall will be streamed live on CTTV (Channel 15 on Frontier Communications, and Channel 640 on Charter Spectrum).
Examples of questions that our panel can answer:
- What if I was in the middle of a home renovation when the storms hit and how does that factor in the 50% rule?
- Do I keep my tax rate/structure after I rebuild?
- What grant programs are available to me as a homeowner?
