City of Tampa Utilities is informing customers about a temporary change that will impact their future utility bills. Debris left behind by Hurricane Milton is interfering with staff members’ ability to read water meters. Staff members are busy surveying neighborhoods each day in order to determine whether the meters are accessible and whether conditions are conducive for a return to normal reading. Until conditions improve to allow for normal meter reading, customers will receive an estimated bill based on their average daily usage over the past 12 months.
Customers who receive an estimated bill will eventually have their meters read, and the actual cumulative consumption will be reconciled. There will be no late fees applied for any charges billed during this period. City of Tampa Utilities will provide an update as soon as conditions improve and allow staff to read meters and bill utility accounts as normal.
