Tampa, FL (October 25, 2024) - - The Tampa Police Department, in partnership with the Ybor City Historic District business community, will host "Ybor Night Out: A Time of Remembrance and Resilience" on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, in remembrance of the tragic shooting that took place on October 29, 2023.
Ybor Night Out is an event to honor all the victims of the October 2023 shooting and to show that Tampa stands together for safety. The event will also be an opportunity for the Tampa Police Department, residents, visitors, and local establishments to connect with each other and build relationships.
“This event is meant to serve as a powerful symbol of unity,” said Chief Lee Bercaw, “a reminder that Tampa is a safer place and a closer community when we stand together.”
The evening begins at 6:30 pm with a candlelight vigil in memory of Harrison Boonstoppel and Elijah Wilson at 1920 Ybor City, located at 1920 E. 7th Ave. Following the vigil, attendees will be given blue LED bracelets, and participating businesses will illuminate their windows with blue candles.
Tampa Police Department members, including K9 and equestrian officers, will then walk along 7th Ave., holding conversations, developing connections, and visiting participating businesses, which all further strengthen the bonds that make Tampa a resilient and vibrant community.
