TAMPA, FL. (October 8, 2024) -- In light of the impending effects of Hurricane Milton, the Tampa Police Department Memorial Committee has made the decision to postpone the 30th Annual Tampa Police Memorial 5K/1-Mile Run-Walk, which was scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024.
“The Tampa Police Memorial Run is a cherished tradition that honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “Although Hurricane Milton is forcing the postponement of this year’s event, our commitment to honoring their legacy remains unwavering. As our department works tirelessly to keep our community safe during and after this historic storm, we will honor the sacrifices and dedication made by those who have gone before us. The concern of every member of this department is the safety of our community as we all weather this storm together.”

The Tampa Police Memorial 5K/1-Mile Run-Walk is an annual event honoring fallen Tampa Police officers and celebrating the spirit of community. Proceeds benefit the Tampa Police Museum, Memorial Scholarship Program, charitable donations, and improvements to the Tampa Police Memorial Monument.
