Drivers should expect some extra traffic around the Tampa Convention Center this weekend, as a large volleyball tournament is returning to the center. Thousands of athletes and their family members are expected for the Gasparilla Volleyball Kickoff from Saturday, February 15 until Monday, February 17.
This tournament is going on from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., with doors opening at 6:45 a.m., on Saturday and Sunday. Times will be 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday. Peak congestion is expected at the start and end of each day.
This event is one of several in the Downtown Tampa area happening over the weekend. Other large events include concerts at Amalie Arena Saturday and Sunday nights.
