53-year-old Clarissa Cubby has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of a 49-year-old male acquaintance in November 2022.
Just after 3 PM on November 8, 2022, Tampa Police responded to the report of a stabbing in the 400 block of E. Nordica St. Officers arrived to find a male with critical injuries, who was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. Detectives immediately began an investigation into what led to this death.
In her initial statement, Cubby said she had been dragged into the apartment by the victim and the door slammed behind them. She continued that he began pushing and punching her, and that she stabbed the victim to get him off her.
However, witness statements along with evidence collected at the scene contradicted Cubby’s version of events. When confronted with the discrepancies, Cubby began to alter her timeline of events. Detectives continued to gather evidence in the case, including nearby video surveillance that further challenged Cubby’s statements of what transpired.
On Thursday, Cubby was arrested in St. Petersburg by Tampa Police and the US Marshals Task Force, charged with murder, and transported to Pinellas County Jail.
