TAMPA, FL (December 13th, 2021) - On December 10th, 2021 at 12:55 p.m., two Plant High School students, the driver (17 year old male) and passenger (15 year old female) were on a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Bay to Bay Blvd. The driver of a Kia Sorento, was traveling northbound across Bay to Bay Blvd. from the stop sign on Lois Av. and did not see the motorcycle approaching at a hide rate of speed. The motorcyclist collided with the side of the Kia SUV, causing fatal injuries to the operator of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle passenger sustained severe injuries and was transferred to TGH where she died days later. The driver of the Kia was also transported due to injuries he sustained in the collision and expected to survive.
The crash remains under the preliminary stages of the investigation.
Any violations, if any, will be determined at a later time.
