Mayor Castor and the Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management, in partnership with Titus O’Neil and Nestle, are holding a kick-off ceremony for a Water Bottle Recycling Challenge. Nestle and the Bullard Family Foundation have coordinated with Hillsborough County Schools to offer students and faculty drinking water for the school year. Four schools that are located within the City of Tampa limits were identified as participants in this program. Those schools are Sligh Middle Magnet, James Elementary, Dr. Carter G Woodson PK-8, and Foster Elementary. Students within those schools will compete against each other to see who can recycle the most water bottles between the program kick-off and March 13th, 2021. The challenge is intended to create an awareness of proper water bottle disposal and enhance the reuse of resources through recycling.
