Old City Hall will light up blue tonight in remembrance of two fallen Tampa Police Department officers who lost their lives in the line of duty 10 years ago today.

On June 29, 2010, officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab were fatally shot while attempting to conduct a traffic stop. Their tragic and unexpected passing devastated many in the community, including fellow TPD officers, family, and friends.

Tonight, Old City Hall, downtown bridges, and trees in Curtis Hixon Park will shine blue in remembrance of Officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community.

“This anniversary weighs heavy on the hearts of all those who knew officers Curtis and Kocab, and on hearts of our entire TPD family,” says Mayor Jane Castor. “Their tragic passing serves as a reminder of the dangers our officers face on a daily basis. Officers Curtis and Kocab were heroes in our city who sacrificed their lives in service to our community. Today, and always, we extend our hearts to their families, friends, and fellow officers”
