Tampa Fire Rescue is proud to host the Hurricane Preparedness Expo on Saturday, May 6 from 12 - 4 p.m. at the Barksdale Senior Center, located at 1801 N. Lincoln Ave., Tampa 33607.
At this free event, residents can:
- identify their evacuation zone
- register for special needs assistance
- learn how to protect their home or business
- how to prepare go-kits for people and pets
- how to get involved in the community
Speakers will be on hand to discuss how you can be Tampa Ready this season including Tony Sadiku, from Fox13; Rubén Capote, from Telemundo49; and Brian LaMarre, from NOAA. Vendors and organizations will have information and giveaways for attendees.
“We are committed to helping our community prepare for the 2023 hurricane season,” said Fire Chief Barbara Tripp. “We want to make sure everyone is informed and equipped with the knowledge they need to stay safe.”
The Expo will also provide sandbags for City of Tampa residents; limit of 10 sandbags per family while supplies last. Tampa residents interested in receiving sandbags must show a valid Driver's License or State Identification verifying residency within the city limits.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their families and friends and take advantage of the free preparedness event.
