Tampa Parks & Recreation & Davis Islands Garden Club Celebrate Arbor Day

This information is 3 years 6 months old and may no longer be accurate.

City of Tampa employees are joining hands with Davis Islands Garden Club members to plant a Silver Buttonwood (Conocarpus erectus var. sericeus) in celebration of Arbor Day. The Garden Club ceremony highlights Davis Islands' tree canopy and the City of Tampa's support of tree planting on Davis Islands.

Tree experts with the City plan to share how trees fit into Tampa's ongoing development while providing insight into the City's tree inventory and planting.

The Davis Islands Garden Club has a long history of collaborating with the City of Tampa in observance of Arbor Day, in line with its mission to protect natural resources and promote civic beauty through horticulture, and work with other agencies to further conservation. Everyone who has enjoyed the shade of the beautiful leafy oaks along the waterside trail at Seaplane Basin Park on Davis Islands will agree that the collaboration is a perfect illustration of the Garden Club motto: "The Seeds of Yesterday are the Blossoms of Today."
