The Tampa Police Department serves a community that is diverse and full of culture. With almost 30 percent of the population being Hispanic, Tampa Police looked for ways to communicate more effectively with its Spanish-speaking residents.
On March 5, 2021, at 9:00 AM, the Tampa Police Department will launch @policiadetampa on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
"Social media has proven to be an effective tool in communicating with the community," said Chief Brian Dugan. "By launching these social media platforms in Spanish, we can directly alert, inform, and interact with the Hispanic community".
Communicating with the Hispanic community in Spanish removes barriers and fosters an environment of trust between the department and the people they serve.
