Tampa Solid Waste Department Revises Service Collection Due to Hurricane Ian

As a result of the impacts of Hurricane Ian, City of Tampa's solid waste services are being revised. Upon evaluation post-storm, updates on collection resumption will be shared. The revised schedule is as follows:

  • Residential collection will be affected.
    • Garbage collection will run through 12 noon Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Only blue, City of Tampa, garbage carts will be collected, all other residential collection will not take place. If your garbage cart has not been collected by 12 noon, please secure it in preparation for the storm. Beginning at 12 noon Tuesday, September 27th garbage collection will be paused until further notice.
    • Recycling collection is paused until further notice. Please secure your green recycling carts in preparation for the storm.
    • Yard waste collection is paused until further notice. Please secure any yard waste items in preparation for the storm.
  • Commercial collection will be affected. Service will run through Tuesday, the 27th. Service will then be delayed beginning Wednesday, the 28th until further notice.
    • Downtown Tampa commercial collection will run through 12 noon Tuesday, the 27th. Service will then be delayed until further notice.
  • SWEEP and Special Pickup service will be affected. Residents under the current SWEEP collection will need to secure any items that have not yet been collected. SWEEP will be canceled for the remainder of the week. An alternate make-up date will be announced post storm. Special services will not take place until further notice.

McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House located at 114 S. 34th St., will be closing early at 12 noon tomorrow, September 27, 2022. The Transfer Station and Scale House will be closed until further notice.
