TAMPA, FL (Friday, January 21st) - The Tampa Police Department has created a Kids Safety Card which would help law enforcement contact parents in a timely manner, should their child get lost. This is an additional safety measure which helps to identify a missing child and expedite a safe reunification with loved ones. Also, remember to take a picture of your child the day of the event on your smart phone. That way, if they get lost, you can send the up-to-date picture to law enforcement.

Cards can be picked up at two locations on Saturday before the parade:

  • Between 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bicycle Rodeo(Bayshore, southbound lanes, Rome to Dakota)
  • Between 1 p.m. to -1:45 p.m. at the Pre-Schooler Stroll (Bayshore, northbound lanes, Howard to Rome)

Additional tips for Children’s parade:

The City of Tampa website (tampa.gov/Gasparilla) has information on the parade routes, parking, wet zones, and the extra streetcar and bus services being offered by HART throughout the season.

Using your smart phone, you can receive event updates and notices of traffic issues.  Just text the word Gasparilla to 888777. That will sign you up for updates sent directly to your phone.

Plan each event in advance.  If you know where you're going to park and know your route, it can save you time.

Once you arrive, pick a meeting place so if you become separated, you have a place to meet.  Text your parking location to your smartphone, with a picture of the cross-street signs as a reminder of where you parked.
