The Tampa Convention Center is proud to announce the 35th Annual Black History Celebration will take place Monday, February 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. The event is hosted by The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. (COTBHC).
This year's theme is "Education & Scholarship: Then and Now," and COTBHC will be recognizing members of the Tampa Bay community for their dedication to educating students and making an impact on student lives through scholarships or other educational assistance programs. Everyone in the Tampa area is welcome to attend.
City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will be there to celebrate the contributions that African Americans have made to Tampa’s rich history and culture.
Tampa Convention Center Location
This event will take place at the Tampa Convention Center in Downtown Tampa. The address for Tampa Convention Center is 333 S. Franklin Street, Tampa. The celebration will be in Ballroom C.
Event Speakers
The keynote speaker for the event at Tampa Convention Center will be Dr. Tonjua Williams, St. Petersburg College Campus President. Deanne King, News Anchor for News Channel 8, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the Kuumba Dancers and Drummers will give life to traditional African culture through dance, music, and storytelling, providing a unique and engaging cultural experience for attendees.
