In the summer of 2023 City of Tampa residents had the opportunity to weigh in on key quality of life issues such as transportation, housing affordability, public safety, and parks.  The City of Tampa is committed to engaging the public to help inform key policy decisions and one of the many tools the City of Tampa utilizes is an annual Community Values Survey.  We are committed to obtaining statistically valid information that is reflective of the diverse demographics of the City and its various communities.

This is the fourth iteration of study for the City of Tampa’s strategic priorities for the community, establishing trending metrics from previous studies conducted in 2020, 2021, and 2022.  We surveyed 1.300 respondents from June 21st through July 17th, contacting residents on both landlines and cellphones.  The data was segmented into six regions to provide a granular analysis of Tampa’s neighborhoods.

The survey results show that the residents have improved trust and confidence in city government, high recommendation levels for living, working and raising children in the city and positive ratings for the city’s handling of issues in general. The survey also shows areas that need more attention and improvement, including affordable housing, smooth traffic flow and quality of roads.

A few key toplines:

  • Trust and confidence in City of Tampa government continues to increase for our residents.
  • 89% of residents are satisfied with local police presence and emergency response times in their neighborhood.
  • 78% of residents feel safe in their neighborhood at night.
  • Residents recommend Tampa as a great place to live and raise children.
