Tampa Water Department Launches First Large-Scale Test of Pioneering New Water Treatment Technology in the United States

The Tampa Water Department will demonstrate its ongoing commitment towards improving the health and safety of our residents by kicking off a year-long pilot study of a new technology for treating drinking water known as Suspended Ion Exchange. 

 

This test pilot at the David L. Tippin Water Treatment Facility (DLTWTF) represents the first large-scale test of this pioneering technology in the United States. It represents the first of several infrastructure upgrade projects funded through the City’s PIPES initiative and is part of a $300 million-dollar, multi-year investment to modernize our water treatment facilities and improve our ability to provide safe, clean drinking water for our customers.

The ceremony will take place on November 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
