On 1/22/21 an anonymous e-mail was sent to University of Tampa security, making a threat to attack the facility. The anonymous e-mailer said he was seeking revenge for being expelled.
An interior and exterior sweep was conducted, within and around the university campus, in partnership with UT security. The school was not evacuated. Nothing suspicious was located. During the investigation, it has been learned that other schools throughout the state received the same e-mails sent to their campus.
Tampa Police Detectives are now coordinating with counterparts from other affected agencies to develop information to work toward identifying and apprehending the person, or persons, who sent the threatening e-mail. While there appears to be no credible threat to the campus, personnel, or students, this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
