Tampa Mayor Jane Castor proclaims March 12, 2021 “Rod Carter Day”

WHAT: Mayor Jane Castor and City employees will present WFLA-News Channel 8 Anchor Rod Carter with a proclamation during a farewell tribute.

WHEN: March 12, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.

WHERE: City Hall Brick Courtyard, 315 East Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa

DETAILS: Mayor Jane Castor is officially naming March 12 “Rod Carter Day” in honor of the longtime WFLA-News 8 anchor. Employees from the City’s Black History Committee and the Tampa Police Department’s Black History Committee will join Mayor Castor in presenting Carter with a proclamation in appreciation of his years of service as a valued journalist and community champion. 

Carter spent more than two decades on television keeping the Tampa community informed, while also volunteering his time to serve as a master of ceremony for numerous programs hosted by the City. He is leaving Tampa to begin a new journey as an anchor for a Raleigh, North Carolina station.
