Community members are joining Tampa Mayor Jane Castor and her staff to celebrate the re-opening of a Northview Hills recreation center. The Williams Park Center is officially opening its doors after recently undergoing a major renovation to increase its square footage and provide enhanced ADA accessibility. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on March 17. The public is encouraged to watch this event live on the City’s Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
The renovated center features upgraded restroom, storage and kitchen spaces along with newly constructed exterior restrooms residents can access directly from the park. A new roof, modern furniture and state-of-the-art technology such as televisions and computers were also included in the $641,226 capital improvement project.
As part of all the City’s capital improvement projects, there was a focus on enhancing the center’s ADA accessibility. Improvements included a new ramp and raised walkway along with ADA parking spaces in the north parking lot for easier access to the center.
The Williams Park Center expansion and renovation was completed in September 2020, however COVID restrictions prevented Parks and Recreation from officially opening the facility and having a ribbon cutting ceremony.
