Description

The Palmetto Beach will enhance the project corridor to improve the vitality, safety, and resiliency of the Palmetto Beach neighborhood. This project includes the following: • Reconstructing and amenitizing the existing seawall on Bermuda Blvd. including an 8 ft. wide seawall trail. • Installation of backflow preventers at the seawall outfall pipes. • Implementation of Complete Streets concept to support the mobility needs of all, along 22nd St., 26th St., and Bermuda Blvd. • Adding enhanced pedestrian crossings. • Roadway resurfacing and narrowing travel lanes. • Installation of tree wells and bioswales along the roadway shoulders. • Connects to the proposed Green ARTery Perimeter Trail.

Community Benefits

• Improved resiliency of the entire community from flooding and storm damage. • Will establish a new waterfront boulevard and trail. • Improved connections between the Palmetto Beach neighborhood and Downtown Tampa. • Improved habitat in McKay Bay. • Improved vitality of the neighborhood through the incorporation of Complete Streets improvements to improve roadway safety and ensure accessibility for all users.
