The Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Committee (MHHC) would like to invite you to celebrate 36 years of educational and community services.

 

Mr. Orestes Destrade

We are proud to present this year’s guest speaker, Mr. Orestes Destrade, born in Cuba and raised in Miami since he was 6 years old, Orestes Destrade played First Baseman/ Outfield/Designated Hitter for 15 pro seasons including, in the Major Leagues with the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and Florida Marlins.

He was the first and only Gaijin Foreigner to have led Japan’s Leagues (Pacific and Central) in home runs for three consecutive years in a row (1990-1992), as well as the run batter leader in 1990 and 1991.

Orestes in 2023, will be entering his 12th season as part of the Ray’s Award-winning, Fox Sports Florida Broadcast, and his 20th year in TV+Radio Broadcasting. He is also Co-Chair of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, and on the Board of Directors of the Major League Alumni Marketing (MLAM).
