Incident Location: N 11 St & W Hillsborough Ave
On June 2, 2024, at approximately 11:47 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of N 11 St and W Hillsborough Ave following reports of an overturned vehicle.
Upon their arrival, officers located two subjects in the overturned convertible, the driver, a black male in his late 70’s, and the passenger, a black female in her late 70’s.
The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Investigators were able to determine that the vehicle was traveling westbound on E Hillsborough Ave, in the inside lane, near N 12th St, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered from the left side of the roadway. The vehicle came to a rest on its roof after striking a utility pole just south of N 11th St.
The driver did not exhibit signs of impairment.
Next of kin was notified and both subjects involved in the crash were known to each other.
The investigation is ongoing.
