This information is 4 months 3 weeks old and may no longer be accurate.

As tropical weather forms near Florida, Tampa Emergency Management officials are urging residents to solidify their plans in case weather conditions worsen throughout the weekend and into next week. Sandbag sites will be opening at three locations for residents and business owners who need to protect their property from possible flooding.

Beginning Friday, August 2, 2024, through Saturday, August 3, 2024, sandbag sites will be offered at:

  • Himes Avenue Complex (4501 South Himes Avenue)
  • Al Barnes Park (2902 North 32nd Street)
  • Al Lopez Park (4810 North Himes Avenue)

Seniors and individuals with special needs will be attended first, with a dedicated time for sandbag filling on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Immediately after, all members of the public will have the opportunity to visit the sites through Saturday until 7:00 P.M.

Each household can take up to 10 sandbags, with new sandbag filling machines on hand to make the process easier.

Pre-registration is encouraged. Please visit tampa.gov/hurricane to fill out the form and for other hurricane-related resources, like evacuation zones, shelter updates, and more.
