Tampa Solid Waste Extends Collection Suspension Due to Hurricane Helene

TAMPA, Fla. (September 26, 2024) -- The Department of Solid Waste will suspend services through Friday, September 27, 2024 due to Hurricane Helene and will resume normal operations on Monday, September 30, 2024. The revised schedule is as follows:

Residential collection

  • Garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection will be suspended on Friday, September 27, 2024 and will resume on Monday, September 30.
  • An assessment will be made post storm regarding storm debris collection, residents are asked to please stand-by for further updates. 

The following Commercial Services will be suspended on Friday, September 27, 2024: 

  • Commercial Collection
  • Downtown Tampa commercial collection, also known as C2S
  • SWEEP and Special Pickup collection days will be announced post storm. 
  • McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House located at 114 S. 34th St., will be closed until further notice. 
  • All commercial collection services will resume on Saturday, September 28, 2024. 

Customers are encouraged to download the Tampa Trash and Recycling app on the Apple and Google Play Stores to receive real-time updates on service schedules.
