City of Tampa Event Connects Subcontractors with Contracts

The City of Tampa is hosting a free event to connect local construction firms with upcoming subcontracting opportunities through its Job Order Contracting (JOC) program. The Bridges to Business JOC Info Session and Networking event takes place on Monday, April 14, from 2 p.m.to 5 p.m. at the Hanna Avenue City Center, 2555 East Hanna Avenue.

For the first time, the City is strongly encouraging residential contractors to attend Bridges to Business. In February, Tampa City Council approved an $11.4 million contract launching the Residential Rehabilitation and Repair JOC Program with six firms serving as prime contractors. This new initiative enables the City to partner with qualified residential subcontractors to complete critical home repairs for income-eligible homeowners across Tampa.

“Our goal is to open doors for more local businesses while ensuring our most vulnerable residents have homes that are safe, functional, and built to last,” said Mayor Jane Castor.

In addition to residential work, the City continues to seek commercial subcontractors for its existing JOC program focused on small to medium-sized municipal projects. Sample scopes of work include electrical and plumbing repairs, flooring, interior and exterior painting, and landscaping and irrigation.

Representatives from several City departments including Purchasing, Housing and Community Development, Equal Business Opportunity, Logistics and Asset Management, and Economic Opportunity will be onsite to answer questions, provide guidance, and support networking.

Attendees will also have a chance to register for City bid notifications and receive help starting or completing their small business certification applications.
