The Tampa Police Department is working to identify suspects involved in a shooting on Tuesday night that left a teenager deceased.
Shortly after 8:30PM on October 18, 2022, officers responded to the McDonald’s located at 4009 N Armenia Ave for a reported shooting in the parking lot. A deceased 16-year-old male was found lying on the ground with a 9MM handgun and several shell casing next to him. He appeared to suffer from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Witnesses advised that the victim was walking through the south side of the parking lot with a group of others just prior to the shooting when the sound of gunshots were heard, and an unknown vehicle fled the scene. None of the witnesses saw the shooter. Friends of the deceased fled the scene on foot before officers arrived, leaving him behind.
Prior to the shooting, the deceased was identified by Tampa PD detectives as a suspect in a separate armed robbery incident. At this time, detectives believe the deceased was firing shots at the suspects just prior to being fatally shot.
The cause of the shooting is currently under investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130 or share information through Tip411, which can be found on the Tampa PD app.
