Tampa Convention Center coordinated a significant food donation to benefit families in need in the Tampa community. The venue, along with its exclusive food and beverage service partner Aramark, donated 12 pallets of rice to Feeding Tampa Bay.
“This is amazing and will help so many,” said Linda Recke, General Manager of Aramark at the Tampa Convention Center.
This rice was unused after the 2023 Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic and ABC Action News Health and Fitness Expo, which was held at the Tampa Convention Center in February.
Feeding Tampa Bay is a non-profit organization that is part of the national Feeding America network. It focuses on providing food to about 1 million food-insecure families in the 10-county area of West Central Florida, including Tampa and all of Hillsborough County.
Feeding Tampa Bay served 92 million meals in 2022, showing a huge need in Tampa Bay and the surrounding community.
This donation is just one of the community initiatives the Tampa Convention Center is involved in to give back to the Tampa community. Tampa Convention Center also assists in donating items to Teaching Tools Resource Center, which provides supplies to local teachers and students in need.
