In an expansion of current community-oriented policing efforts, the Tampa Police Department will launch its new Town Hall Tuesday initiative to build on the strong bonds that make Tampa one of the safest cities of our size in the nation. The first Town Hall Tuesday will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the New Testament Worship Center, located at 5107 E. 32nd Ave.

In Tampa, there are nearly 400,000 residents and just under 1,000 officers. Police departments are most effective in preventing crime with the support and assistance of the public.

"I want our community to see and believe that every police officer and TPD employee represents and understands the community they are serving," said Chief Lee Bercaw. "Through some of our other community engagement efforts, we've seen firsthand how well they work for the immediate neighborhood and our officers. Ultimately, hosting these Town Hall Tuesdays will allow us to continue to build on that momentum and allow for additional conversations as we all work to make Tampa safer, together."

Each Town Hall Tuesday will be held in a different sector of the city and serve as an opportunity for the community to meet with Tampa PD personnel including Chief Lee Bercaw, district commanders, and officers who are assigned to patrol that area of the city, creating an environment to develop shared crime-prevention approaches and address community concerns together.
