The City of Tampa Wastewater Department is seeking public comment on a proposed application for a CDBG-MIT General Infrastructure Program Grant for the rehabilitation of nine (9) areas within the wastewater collection system. The work will include the rehabilitation of approximately 60 miles of gravity sewer pipes and rehabilitation of 1350 manholes that are failing and causing excessive infiltration. Failures of these wastewater assets can cause wastewater overflows that may significantly impact public health, harm the environment and cause damage to public and private property.

This funding is designed to address mitigation needs to ensure that the state of Florida is more resilient to future natural disasters. These projects align with the sustainability and infrastructure improvements goals Mayor Castor has prioritized for the City of Tampa.
These are the nine (9) projects included in the grant application for funding:
Palma Ceia Area - The general limits are North: West Jetton Avenue; East: East Selmon Expressway and South Habana Avenue; South: West Empedrado Street; West: South Malijo Avenue
West Shore Palms/North Bon Air Area - The general limits are: North: I-275; East: North Himes Avenue; South: West Kennedy Boulevard; West: North West Shore Boulevard
Gandy Area - The general limits are: North: West Paxton Avenue; East: South Dale Mabry Highway; South: West Mango Avenue; West: South Manhattan Avenue
24th Street Trunk Sewer - Limits of the project are: North 24th Street from I-4 to Adamo Drive
Branch Pump Station Trunk Sewer - Limits of the projects are: Hollywood Street from North Branch Avenue to North Van Dyke Place; Hamilton Heath Drive from North Van Dyke Place to 12th Street
Downtown Trunk Sewers - Limits of the project are: Morgan Street from Twiggs Street to Whiting Street
Live Oak Square - The general limits are: North: Hillsborough River; East: 42nd Street; South: East Hillsborough Avenue; West: 30th Street
Riverbend Area - The general limits are: North: Fern Street; East: Hillsborough River; South: West Hillsborough Avenue; West: North Habana Avenue
Grey Gables/Hyde Park Area - The general limits are: North: West Kennedy Boulevard and West North A Street; East: Bayshore Boulevard; South: West Morrison Avenue; West: South Lincoln Avenue
