For the sixth year in a row, the Tampa Bay Lightning are in the NHL Playoffs. Mayor Jane Castor and the Lightning are celebrating with a banner drop at Tampa City Hall on Monday, April 17 at 12:00 p.m.
The group will ascend to the top of City Hall in a Tampa Fire Rescue bucket truck and unveil a "Go Bolts!" banner in support of the team as they look to hoist their fourth Stanley Cup in the team’s 30 year history.
“Our team and organization have worked incredibly hard this season, and we are thrilled to once again be heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs,” Vinik Sports Group Chief Operating Officer Mark Pitts said. “As we chase another Cup, we need the support of all of Bolts Nation in Tampa Bay and beyond. We can’t wait for the puck to drop and would like to thank Mayor Castor and everyone at the City of Tampa for being such great partners. Go Bolts!”
The Blue Crew will also be in attendance to help celebrate with souvenirs on hand to get fans pumped up for the post season.
Mayor Castor will challenge residents and other regional leaders to hoist Lightning flags and show their support for the team throughout Tampa Bay.
"Let’s show our support for the Lightning as they embark on yet another NHL playoff run,” Mayor Castor said. “I have no doubt they are ready to bring home the Stanley Cup, once again!"
Additionally, Old City Hall will light up in blue starting tonight to show support for the Lightning as they kick-off their postseason.
