The number of renovated parks in the City of Tampa continues to grow, with South Tampa's Cal Dickson Tennis Center the newest to join the list.
Featuring a new fenced play area, complete with a 'tricycle track,' paved walkways, 2,500 sq. ft. for open play, and seven individual play pieces for ages 2-12, the park is equipped for hours of family fun.
On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, Mayor Jane Castor will be joined by Tampa council members Guido Maniscalco, Gwendolyn Henderson, the project contractor, representatives from the Palma Ceia West Neighborhood Association, and members of the community to celebrate the official unveiling of the improved green space and playground.
"Enhancing our parks reflects how much we care about our community," said Mayor Jane Castor. "When we invest in places everyone can enjoy, great things happen. It's all about creating beautiful spaces for now and generations to come."
The total cost of the project was approximately $270,000 and was funded by a Community Investment Tax (CIT). Since the start of the year, the City of Tampa's Parks and Recreation Department has renovated 5 parks, investing more than $8 million in our nationally-recognized park system, comprised of 195 total parks.
