TAMPA, Fla.- The Tampa Police Department Black History Committee is partnering with UNCF (United Negro College Fund) to host the Annual Black History Walk for Education & HBCU Homecoming Festival.
During the past 80 years, UNCF has helped nearly half a million students earn college degrees.
“This is another opportunity to partner with our community for programs that benefit youth,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “I am excited to join forces with an organization like UNCF for an event that helps children navigate the path to success.”
The Tampa Police Department will also award five deserving high school students with scholarships at this year’s event.
“These scholarships will allow us to make a positive impact on students heading into the next chapter of their lives,” Deputy Chief Calvin Johnson said. “We must all do our part to help our youth be successful. We are thankful to the sponsors who helped make this happen.:
