Tampa Convention Center is excited to announce that it has been awarded LEED Silver for Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M). LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence.

“This is an impressive accomplishment, especially for a building that’s almost 35 years old,” said David Ingram, Executive Director of the Tampa Convention Center. “It demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and the great job our operations team does keeping us running.”

Certification is proof that buildings are going above and beyond to ensure the space is operated to the highest level of sustainability. Green buildings allow companies to operate more sustainably and give the people inside them a healthier, more comfortable space to work.

Tampa Convention Center achieved LEED O+M certification for existing buildings by implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions in areas including sustainability operations practices, water savings, energy efficiency, and indoor environmental quality.

As part of its recent Capital Improvements Project, Tampa Convention Center made upgrades to reduce energy consumption. Those include updating the venue’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system and replacing older lighting technology with LED lighting.
