Brett Owen is the Tampa Police Department Deputy Chief of Investigations & Support. Prior to joining the Tampa Police Department in 2002, Deputy Chief Owen served four years with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Chief Owen is an accomplished law enforcement professional with over two decades of dedicated service. Born in Ohio and raised in Haines City, Florida, he holds advanced degrees in Criminal Justice and has completed rigorous leadership training, including the FBI LEEDA Trilogy and Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) Senior Management Institute.
Throughout his career, Deputy Chief Owen has ascended through the ranks, serving in various roles from patrol officer to his current position overseeing the investigative and support functions of the department. His commitment to community engagement is evident in his work with the Police Athletic League and mentorship of officers. A strong advocate for professional development, he is dedicated to cultivating future leaders within the department.
