The Criminal Investigations Division oversees all long-term, latent investigations allowing uniform patrol officers to focus on day-to-day operations. It is comprised of the Major Crimes Bureau and the Violent Crimes Bureau.
The Major Crimes Bureau investigates Homicides, Sex Crimes, Child Abuse, Internet Crimes Against Children, and Fugitive Apprehension. The bureau also handles forensic investigations.
The Cyber Crimes Squad is part of the Major Crimes Bureau and investigates Internet Crimes Against Children as part of the ICAC Task Force. ICAC investigators use specialized equipment and training to investigate and prevent the online exploitation of children.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Bureau are also responsible for conducting long-term investigations and operations aimed at combatting Human Trafficking, a form of modern-day slavery.
The Violent Crimes Bureau is responsible for Narcotics and Gang Enforcement, Undercover Operations, and Firearm Investigations.
